How much is Iowa resident tuition and how does it compare with our peer schools?

In the 2011-12 academic year, undergraduate Iowa residents enrolled in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences paid $7,765 per year in tuition and mandatory fees ($6,436 in tuition alone, which is 59% of the average cost of instruction). Students enrolled in the Colleges of Engineering and Nursing or the Tippie College of Business paid somewhat higher tuition amounts, depending on their year in school. Undergraduate resident tuition (with or without mandatory fees) at the University of Iowa is the second lowest in the Big 10, and our tuition plus fees is $3,200 below the average within our Board of Regents-defined peer group of public universities.
